What We Know About Marvel’s Avengers

Marvel’s Avengers is one of the most anticipated titles of 2020, as the title will offer players the chance to become some of the most popular superheroes and face a series of deadly challenges. Below you can find a variety of information about the upcoming video game.

Launch date and access

Players who pre-ordered the game on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Stadia will enjoy a 72-hours early access period from September 1, with the official launch taking place on September 4. A day-one 18GB patch will have to be downloaded by those who won’t play the game on Stadia.

Activation

Players who purchased the digital edition will download the game and day-one patch at the same time. Also, a one-time internet connection is required to initiate the download and activate the title, but there is no need for a persistent internet connection if you don’t wish to play multiplayer content.

Premise and Story

According to official marketing information, the action-adventure title will follow an original story that takes place five years after A-Day, a failed celebration that ended with a tragedy for which the Avengers were blamed. Divided at some point, the heroes are brought together by the need to defeat the malicious A.I.M. organization ruled by M.O.D.O.K., a devious villain.

Gameplay

The title will offer both single-player and multiplayer modes. Players will control iconic Marvel characters like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, and Ms. Marvel at launch, with several characters being added later as free DLC. Gameplay-wise the title seems to be a mixture between a third-person beat’em up and shooter while also implementing popular elements from looter-shooter titles like Destiny 2.

Customization

Each hero comes with in-depth customization options and a rich selection of cosmetics. While the former are earned in-game, players will also have the option to purchase cosmetics with real-world money as well as character-specific battle passes.
