Knives Out 2 News: How Would Rian Johnson Going To Approach It

Rian Johnson has explained his approach to Knives Out 2. It was released in November, and the original Knives Out was a hit in 2019. They earned over $300 million at the worldwide box office, and, also, widespread critical acclaim.

About Knives Out And Its Success

The producers even got an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. And before Knives Out got such success, Johnson talked about making a follow-up, with Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc. Lionsgate is currently going with a Knives Out sequel – Johnson is writing the script.

The greatest strengths of the Knives Out TV series was its cast, as Craig worked with Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, and many other famous names. From all of these names, it’s a sure deal that Craig is the only one returning for Knives Out 2.

The idea behind the story is another Benoit Blanc mystery, that’s similar to Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot novels.

Rian Johnson’s Approach on Knives Out 2

When Johnson was asked why is only Craig coming back, he stated: “The tropes of the genre, there’s a lot of different modes in which the genre operates. The ABC Murders is a much different type of book than The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, which is much different And Then There Were None….. It’s fertile ground to dig in. We’ve, so far, with Knives Out only done one little corner of the garden, so it’s going to be fun to wander out, you know…”

He then proceeded to say that it’s fun and challenging at the same time, to see how can someone fit this into a movie. “A lot of the structure of Knives Out in terms of just how the basic thing works were calculating how do I translate the experience of a great mystery novel into a two-hour movie.”
