Aquaman was a success back in 2018, so it is normal that the producers and the studio decided to do a sequel. DC and Warner Bros announced the production of a sequel, Aquaman 2, fast after the first movie was released. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is the one to write the script. Peter Safran and James Wan will be back to produce.
When will Aquaman 2 be released?
Warner Bros has revealed that the sequel will be released on the 16th of December, 2022 – four years after the first movie hit the cinemas. From DC, we will also get Wonder Woman 1984, so we are very excited about these two titles.
The cast of Aquaman 2
Jason Momoa will reprise his role as Arthur Curry/Aquaman. We will also see Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Amber Heard as Mera, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius/Ocean Master and Yahya Abdul-Mateen as David Kane/Black Manta.
What do we know about the plot?
Jason Momoa stated about Arthur Curry: ‘He was born with the capabilities, but he never truly examined them, polished them. Certainly, the original film is his whole origin tale. We have noticed Aquaman in the Justice League, which is everything only about two minutes of his earlier life, so we will notice where he came from.’
The end of the movie showed Arthur defeating Orm, and taking his place as the King of Atlantis. We have seen Aquaman in his traditional orange-and-green outfit for the first time. The Aquaman 2 sequel will probably show us the first days as the new King, having to deal with the lords of Atlantis. The producers have a plan, and we cannot wait to see what it is.
At the moment, we’ll have to wait for more details. We can only hope that Aquaman 2 will be at lease as entertaining as the first movie in the franchise.
