Total Annihilation: RTS Classic Given Away for Free

Are you getting nostalgic for the early days of gaming? Well then, we have some good news for you. The classic real time strategy game Total Annihilation is being given away on the GOG platform. Not only is Total Annihilation given for free, but it is being given away with all of its expansions as well. This will enable nostalgic gamers to reexperience the gaming days of 1997, back when humans and AI fought between each other with hundreds upon hundreds of robots and vehicles of all sorts.

Supreme Commander: Gold Edition also includes the amazing Forged Alliance expansion. Supreme Commander 2 is also available, and, what’s more, it is also on sale. The discounts for these two games are 80 percent, respectively 75 percent. The sequel is pretty good, but the original one is the one we recommend for a true, proper, classic gaming experience, especially considering the fact that you get all of the expansions for free as well.

Total Annihilation is available for free only for a short amount of time, so you should hurry if you want to get your hands on this classic of real time strategy. GOG’s promotion, which quite a generous one, lasts until 2pm BST, which is 9am ET on June 7. If you are a die-hard fan of the classic real time strategy games, you can check out the history of Total Annihilation as well.

The game came out during a period when the RTS genre was quickly evolving. By the mid-Nineties. PCs were capable of capturing the necessary scale of battles to simulate a battle experience and online gaming was on the verge of becoming an enormous sector. Chris Taylor, the creator of Total Annihilation, explained how the game took a lot of changes to do properly. Initially, Total Annihilation was supposed to be in 3D, but the computing power of the time meant that the developers had to settle for 2.5D.
