The film was inspired by the games, and it actually failed at the box office. There are a lot of other movies just like this, like Assassin's Creed and Max Payne, which did better. The movie got negative reviews from both the audience and the critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film got 37% ratings, and it is thought to be a commercial failure. The main lead of the movie, Jake Gyllenhaal, does not want to make a sequel. He stated: "I guess I discovered a lot from that film in that I spend a lot of time attempting to be very thoughtful regarding the roles that I pick and why I'm choosing them. And you're bound to slip up, and you be like, that wasn't right for me, or that didn't fit correctly. There have been several characters like that. And then several parts that do." The movie was directed by Mike Newell, and it hit the cinemas back on the 28th of May, 2010. Hopefully, there will be Prince of Persia 2.
