The Arctic has witnessed a quick melting process of the sea ice for many decades, and it appears to warm faster than the rest of the world. So, when sea ice melts in our planet's northernmost area, sea levels increase over the globe driving to possible flooding. Those ozone-exhausting gases also possess some chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). Researchers Made New Discovery on the Severe Arctic Meltdown Case Scientists have been trying to put down those CFCs, which included refrigerants and propellants, for too many years, not since the Montreal Protocol agreement was done. Moreover, to quantify the climate influence of ozone-exhausting gasses, researchers from Columbia University acted out. They utilized simulations to perform many tests. For one of the tests, they examined what would result if stratospheric ozone and the disturbing gases that damage it remained at 1955 levels. Their discovery provided some light in the climate change case and received attention from the Montreal Protocol. The study details: "Our findings also have implications for the future because the phase-out of , which is well underway, will substantially mitigate Arctic warming and sea-ice melting in the coming decades." Researchers forecasted another 50 years before the ozone layer over Antarctica returns to its 1980 level.
