Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords was released on the 6th of December, 2004, and it was the first game from the Obsidian Entertainment. The new studio had, at that time, seven veteran developers, who moved from the Black Isle Studios in the attic of the CEO Feargus Urquhart.
LucasArts, its publisher, wanted to stress the success of the original game from a year before and gave the team 14 to 16 months to create a sequel. The fact that the finished product has some problems is really no surprise.
The most known problem is the HK-50 factory side quest. There’s no conclusion to the game. This means that players do not discover the origins of the game’s most recurring threat.
About Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords
Some files were buried in the code reveal the content of the game, made by Obsidian for the final planet of the game, and it had action pieces and dialogue. The developers just could not work on it before the launch date.
When he started modding KOTOR2 – Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords – 10 years ago, Zbigniew Stankiewicz has worked before with the mod toolset for Neverwinter Nights. This means that he knew the engine pretty well. At first, he wanted to finish a mod in which he would bring the planet M4-78 back into the main game.
This is the droid planet, where players were supposed to find Jedi Master Lonna Vash hiding. He then waited for a writer to return the scripts, so he started to work on something that would later become the Restored Content Mod. The Restored Content Mod entered beta in 2009.
