The release date for Sherlock Holmes 3 is finally confirmed, after all of these years. Fans are excited to see the return of the detective. Robert Downey Jr. has definitely given a new image to Sherlock Holmes, and his movies are considered to be the best adaptation of the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
It has been over a decade since the last movie, but we are still happy that it’s a sure deal. Here is all we know so far.
So when is the release date of Sherlock Holmes 3?
The filming for this movie has already started, and it has been said that it will hit the market on the 22nd of December, 2021. It was originally supposed to be released on Christmas 2020, but then the production has changed the director, so they had to delay the date.
Guy Ritchie was the one to direct the first two movies, but he won’t be back for the third one since he’s working on other projects, such as “The Gentleman” and King Arthur sequels. Dexter Fletcher, who previously worked on Rocketman, is the new director.
Also, Chris Brancato will write the script for the next movie. The trailer for Sherlock Holmes 3 could be here at the beginning of next year.
We don’t know much about the plot yet, but it will probably focus on
Sherlock Holmes and John Watson co-depending on each other. Rumor has it, Sherlock will go to San Francisco, and the movie will present America in the 1800s.
Moriarty will probably return as the villain, but we have also heard rumors that they will come up with a new character to be the bad guy. We’ve heard about Henry Cavill being the troublemaker in this one.
What about the cast?
Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law will return as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson in Sherlock Holmes 3. Jared Harris will be back as Professor James Moriarty. Noomi Rapace will also reprise her role as Madame Simza Heron. Other people coming back are Stephen Fry as Mycroft Holmes, Kelly Reilly as Mary Morstan, and Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler.
