Sherlock Holmes 2 was released before the Avengers united after the Phase 1 of MCU. Robert Downey Jr got very busy afterward with other movies, so we have been waiting for this part for a very long time. Here is all we know so far about Sherlock Holmes 3.
When is the release date?
Warner Bros. has come with a fixed release date for Sherlock Holmes 3: the 22nd of December, 2021. The movie will get a lot of competition from Avatar 2, Wicked – the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical, and Hotel Transylvania 4.
Is it the same cast?
The two main lead actors, Robert Downey Jr., and Jude Law are set to reprise their roles ten years later. Jared Harris, who performed Moriarty in ‘Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows,’ will probably not come back, as he said before in an interview.
What is the plot in Sherlock Holmes 3?
In the last movie, we’ve seen how Sherlock falls from a cliff with Professor Moriarty. We have also seen that Sherlock survived, but we don’t know anything about Moriarty. So we are asking ourselves, who will be the villain in the third part? We believe that Moriarty survived the fall, but that doesn’t mean that the third part cannot introduce a new villain. It can be Professor Coram, or Charles Augustus Milverton, or even Henry ‘Holy’ Peter, who is one of the few who are smarted than Sherlock.

What book will be the base for the ‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ adapt? Perhaps it won’t be a book at all, and perhaps they will simply pick up pieces of Conan Doyle stories and set them into one big storyline. We cannot do anything but wait to see an official statement. Of course, we should wait for the movie to come out.
