‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’: The Sequel Is in Works

Some sources revealed that Paramount and Entertainment One are working on a sequel of 2019’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The movie hit the theaters on the 9th of August, 2019, and it was appreciated by both audience and the critics.

However, we don’t know much about the confirmation of a sequel, but we believe one is on works. The first movie set up a story for the sequel, so we think they will take advantage of the opportunity.

Who is working on the ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ sequel right now?

Numerous sources say that the director of the original movie, called André Øvredal, and the writers, Dan and Kevin Hageman are working on the script for the sequel.

Guillermo del Toro is also helping with the story, but he won’t be returning as a producer for the sequel. Hageman has worked with del Toro on Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, and we have seen how amazing that is.

The cast from the first movie

The first movie was inspired by Alvin Schwartz’s book series with the same name. Actors playing in the first movie are Zoe Colletti, Austin Zajur, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Natalie Ganzhorn, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, and Lorraine Toussaint.

The first movie was a success

Immediately after its releases in theaters, on the 9th of August 2019, the movie got good reviews from the audience and from critics, but also some objections when it comes to the CGI effects on the beasts. The film earned around $105 million globally.

Right now, we are waiting to hear more about the ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ sequel. There is no news about the release date, but at least we know that it is, finally, in the works.
