Samsung’s Android 11 Update For The Galaxy S20 – Current Status

Is Samsung working on the Android 11 update for the Galaxy S20 device range?

A member of the XDA Developers community noticed Android 11 mentioned as the most recent operating system version for the Galaxy S20 Ultra. The discovery was made on Samsung’s official firmware version tracker, which could mean that the new update started early.

However, it looks like Samsung plans to keep the update secret for now, as the tracker is currently displaying the latest OS version available for the device as Android 10.

Evidence?

Though there is no substantial evidence for the moment, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Samsung testing Android 11 on the Galaxy S20 lineup.

The previous year, it was around this time that Samsung began working on the Android 10 update for the Galaxy S10 series.

Most manufacturers typically begin developing the next version of the operating system for its devices months in advance.

When Will It Be Released?

The release date of the new OS version is what puzzles us most. It’s believed that Samsung will first roll out a beta program that allows owners to run Android 11 on their devices before the worldwide public release.

Some say that we might be only a few months away from that point.

Google is testing the beta version of Android 11 for the moment, and Samsung probably won’t start any beta program until after the first stable release of Android 11 for Pixel smartphones.

Therefore, Samsung’s release date heavily relies on Google’s. We are more than happy to say that the Android 11 update will be released in September like the Android 10 update did last year, but there isn’t enough evidence to support that.

The good news is that the Android 11 update will mark the transition to Samsung’s One UI 3.0.
