Hearthstone has been around for more than six years, attracting millions of people to digital CCG inspired by the lore of the iconic Warcraft series, including the legendary World of Warcraft MMORPG. Blizzard has released a generous number of changes in recent years, but a major revamp will arrive in November.
A new expansion based on the Darkmoon Faire will bring the beloved Old Gods back. Duels is a brand new game mode that blends traditional multiplayer rules with Dungeon Run mechanics for an exciting journey, and a fully revamped progression system will encourage and reward players across different game modes.
Return of the Old Gots
The latest Hearthstone expansions are called Madness at the Darkmoon Faire and comes with a fresh batch of 135 cards, including the four Old Gods. While the ten mana cost is preserved, the Old Gods come with new mechanics that will encourage deck building.
For example, N’Zoth, God of the Deep, loses the ability to resurrect deathrattle minions but is able to resurrect one minion from each type, which can lead to powerful synergies if the right minions are played through the match.
Prepare to Duel
In Duels, players will start with a small deck of 15 cards and wage battle against other players. With each victory, players will be able to add new cards and treasures to their deck. Players have to defeat 12 rivals to complete a match before they lose three times.
A revamped progression system will come with a clear rewards tracker that will show what can be earned and how to earn it. Achievements will also be added to the game, with new ones arriving on a regular basis. Players who want more rewards will also have the option to purchase a Tavern Pass, and three weekly quests will be available besides daily and limited-time quests.
Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Arrives on November 17, while a beta for Duels will be available from November 12.
