Jumanji: The Next Level Is Expected To Thrive This Weekend

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker still has another week to go before it hits theaters all around the world and takes control of the box office, which means this weekend is open for another movie to take the spotlight.

It seems that Jumanji: The Next Level is ready to take in pre-holiday money, taking the box office by surprise. After the tremendous success of 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Next Level was expected to gain a huge amount of profit during its opening weekend. According to projections, it seems that Jumanji: The Next Level is going to take us by surprise, shining even brighter than anyone expected.

The Hollywood Reporter published the nex tracking numbers for the movie, revealing that Jumanji: Next Level’s opening weekend will be in the range of $40-$50 million. Still, Sony is a bit more modest, suggesting projections of around $35 million this weekend.

If Jumanji’s opening weekend profit is similar to the predictions made by The Hollywood Reporter, there is a big possibility that it will top its predecessor in the box office. Welcome to the Jungle opened with $36 million in December 2017, but it had the misfortune of hitting theaters after the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

This weekend, Jumanji does not have any major competition, meaning that it doesn’t have to share its spotlight with anyone. Frozen 2 and Knives Out have been out for weeks, so they don’t pose any threat to The Next Level. There are two more movies opening this weekend, Richard Jewell and Black Christmas. However, neither of them are expected to have massive opening weekends. Black Christmas is expected to have a $12 million debut, while Richard Jewell is looking to earn about $10 million this weekend.

We are curious to see how Jumanji: The Next Level is going to perform during the holiday season and into the new year. Welcome to the Jungle had a profitable run in its entirety, earning $404.5 million in North America and $962.1 million internationally.
