Lionsgate Movie Group wants to make a prequel for Hunger Games series, now with Suzanne Collins releasing her most recent novel. The book is called ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’, and it has been released on the 19th of May, 2020.
Details on the plot
The plot of the novel takes place in the ‘Hunger Games’ universe, of course, and it will be adjusted for the prequel. Here is all we know so far.
The prequel will be coordinated by Francis Lawrence, who was also there to help in the first three movies from the series: ‘The Hunger Games,’ ‘Catching fire,’ and ‘Mockingjay.’ Michael Arndt will be the screenwriter, making the novel into a film – doing an excellent job, may we add, and Nina Jacobson will be back as the producer of the movie, as well.
When will we get the new Hunger Games movie?
Right now, it is too early to talk about a possible release date, the movie is under development, and there is no official news on the internet. There are not even rumors yet, so sit tight.
Will the entire cast return for the prequel? Lionsgate has not talked about the film yet. But they did talk about “presenting an altogether new canvas of characters.” As of now, there is no news about the cast.
What about the the plot?
The new Hunger Games film will probably concentrate on Coriolanus Snow at 18 years old before he becomes the President of Panem. It seems that the Snow family has some bad luck, and he finds a way to adjust his fortune when he is picked to be the narrator for the tenth Hunger Games event. But everything changes when he has to mentor the girl tribute from the devastated District 12. We are looking forward to hearing more.
