Harry Potter RPG: Everything You Need to Know

Two years ago, a pretty convincing video of some development footage was leaked online and it seemed to come from a Harry Potter RPG. The game is, theoretically, developed by Avalanche Studios. Folks over at Warner Bros., which own the franchise, have not made any public announcement regarding this game, but a Bloomberg report based on the information given by two insiders claims that the project remains on track to be released in 2021.

In the report, it was mentioned that the project, which has been rumored for a long, long time, is very real. A little earlier this year, some rumors even suggested that Warner Bros. could be hosting their first E3 press conference to let the public know about the upcoming Harry Potter RPG, together with their new Batman game. Unfortunately, E3 was cancelled, Warner Bros. were left without a stage, and we were left in the dark regarding their planned releases.

According to the very same Bloomberg report, the updated plan over at Warner Bros. is to announce the new Batman game at a virtual event known as DC FanDome, happening sometime in August. The Harry Potter RPG, on the other hand, will be revealed a little later than the Batman game, as it has no connection to DC and the company is waiting for the right opportunity. Could we even be headed towards a surprise release? It would not be bad, but that is probably not Warner Bros. style.

Originally, I thought that we could see Hogwarts during this Summer Game Fest, considering the fact that the Warner Bros. logo was proudly displayed on the front page of the event. If the reveal happens later than August, however, the announcement date will be way past the Summer Game Fest. Anyway, regardless of when the game is announced, sources collaborating with Bloomberg have said that the game is still scheduled for release in 2021.
