Doctor Who Series 12 Trailer Revealed

November 23 is Doctor Who Day, so BBC decided to celebrate by surprising fans with the trailer for the series’ season twelve trailer. The footage shows Jodie Whittaker back as the Thirteenth Doctor. Other characters shown in the trailer are those played by Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill.

The new trailer also confirms the return of one of the Doctor’s oldest and most dangerous enemies, the Cybermen. In the video, we can see one of the cybernetic humanoids acting alone.

The Cybermen were the ones that triggered the Doctor’s latest regeneration, shooting the 12th Doctor while he was protecting the colony ship. They shot the Twelfth Doctor as he defended the inhabitants of a colony ship in “The Doctor Falls.”

We first saw the Cybermen in The Tenth Planet, the second-ever Doctor Who series, where they fought against the First Doctor. For some time, online rumors talked about their return. Some fans believe a Cyberman will inspire Mary Shelley her sci-fi/horror novel, Frankenstein.

The production for the 12th seson of Doctor Who wrapped last week, according to the announcement made by Chris Chibnail.

Well we never actually stopped – as Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor and friends have been winning the hearts of families across the nation this autumn, we’ve been busy with a whole new set of action packed adventures for the Thirteenth Doctor. We adore making this show and have been blown away by the response from audiences, so we can’t wait to bring more scares, more monsters and more Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole to BBC One. Brilliant!”

Charlotte Moore, BBC director of content, also expressed her delight about the return of the Doctor. She also said that the team is already working on a whole new set of adventures for the Doctor. Even more, a special New Year’s Day episode will air.
