If we listen to the latest rumors, there are reasons to believe that a new Star Wars movie is in the making. Nonetheless, the next Star Wars movie seems to be a secretive project, and there is not much we know about it.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the director of the upcoming Star Wars project will be in fact directed by J.D. Dillard: “A new Star Wars project is in the works: J.D. Dillard, best known for writing and directing the sci-fi thriller Sleight, and Matt Owens, a writer on Marvel shows Luke Cage and Agents of SHIELD, have been tapped to develop it. But insiders say it is undecided whether the project will be for the big screen or for the highly prioritized streaming platform.”
The Star Wars franchise
The Skywalker saga was finally concluded last year in December when Lucasfilm released the Rise of Skywalker. However, this does not mean that Star Wars fans have a reason to be sad. The movies will continue, and we already know that the next date announced by Disney is December 2022, which is less than three years away.
New Star Wars Movie Might Be on Disney+
We can’t forget about Disney+, the streaming service launched by Disney last year. At the moment, Star Wars movies are not available on the platform, but this might change in the future. In fact, many seem to believe that the upcoming mysterious Star Wars movie will be, in particular, launched on Disney+. More than that, some believe that the film might be a Disney+ exclusive.
This would definitely attract many new users, which is precisely what Disney would want. As we already know, the new generation of Star Wars films proved to be extremely profitable, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see them released on Disney+ in the future.
