After losing the Oscar award to his former wife, James Cameron comes with an ambitious plan: four sequels for Avatar every 2 Decembers. If the plan were to work, Christmas might become blue, and Pepsi’s blue Santa Clause will win the battle with the red Coca-Cola’s Santa. We’re talking about the possible Avatar 2.
Back in 2010, at the 82nd Oscar awards, James Cameron was brutally defeated by none other than his former wife, Kathryn Bigelow. The female director won the award for best director, and her movie, The Hurt Locker, won the prize for the best picture. The video also won another four categories: best original screenplay, best film editing, best sound mixing, and best sound editing. Six Oscars. Avatar, considered the big come back of James Cameron after his grand success The Titanic, got the leftovers: best art direction, best cinematography, and best visual effects.
Now, it is time for a comeback. On December 17, 2021, is set the release in the theaters worldwide of the first sequel of Avatar. The rest will follow in December 2023, 2025, and 2027.
Avatar 2 is on the cards
The star names for the first sequel are Vin Diesel and Kate Winslet. With the Titanic, she was Oscar nominee. Seven children appear on the cast, which can be a spoiler confirmation that Jack and Neytiri (the former Avatar leading characters) will have kids. Sam Worthington is still paying Jack, and Zoe Saldana is again playing Neytiri. From the old distribution, Cameron kept Sigourney Weaver (playing Dr. Grace Augustine) and Stephen Lang (playing Miles Quaritch).
Filming and production are almost done, so the first trailer for Avatar 2 is waited to be released by the end of this year or at the start of 2021. It looks like this second part will move from the jungles and mountains of Pandora (the imaginary world where the blue tall being live) to the seas and oceans of Pandora.
The plot is believed to be the Resources Development Administration’s comeback to take revenge for what happened in the previous story. Just like Cameron is coming back to revenge, the first Avatar with Avatar 2. There are also chances that another alien race other than Navi is introduced. Fingers crossed!
